Ojos Azules Cat Breed. In 1992, only ten were known. She was bred to males without the trait, which proved to be dominant, as all her kittens showed it.
Cats with dark blue eyes were taken from the local feral cat population as the basis for the breeding program. It had been said that, “the tica ojos azules breed group standard is dated 5 january 2004.” 1 but as at february 2011, there is no breed standard on the tica website, neither is there this cat breed! The ojos azules originated from a single female cat.
The breed, in both short and long hair variety, was accepted for registration by tica in 1991.
In 1992, only ten were known. The breed is descended from a new mexican cat by the name of cornflower, which was born in 1984. The name ojos azules translates to “blue eyes” in spanish, and the ojos azules cat name is fitting because these felines feature beautiful eyes that are a deep blue color. The breed gets its name from the distinctive blue eyes which are not linked to any coat color or pattern.
